President Bola Tinubu has approved the extension of the Bodo–Bonny Road to connect directly with the East–West Road, a move expected to significantly improve connectivity and economic activity in Rivers State and the wider Niger Delta.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of Works on Media, Francis Nwaeze, in a statement says the extended Bodo–Bonny Road project will be executed as a dual carriageway, constructed with concrete pavement for enhanced durability.
The road will also feature solar-powered street lighting. According to the statement, the project will be delivered through a competitive bidding process.
President Tinubu has also approved the immediate reconstruction of several federal roads in Niger State. The roads include the 120-kilometre Mokwa–Bida Road, the 63-kilometre Mokwa–Makeri Road, and the 123.5-kilometre Bida–Lambata Road.
The three Niger State projects, spanning a combined total of 306.5 kilometres, are to be reconstructed using reinforced concrete pavement to ensure long-term value, strength, and resistance to wear.
